Principal Amott's Message:
Mountainside Families,
May is here, and we are winding down another amazing year here at Mountainside! May means lots of fun activities, presentations, field trips, and assemblies! Please check with your child’s teacher about what they have scheduled this month. We don’t want anyone to miss out!
We have our final Acadience Reading assessment on Friday, May 15. We are the last school to test, which will limit our days to have absent students make up their test. Please plan to have your child at school on May 15.
Our school's end-of-year awards assembly will be on Thursday, May 28, at 9:30 AM. All parents are invited to attend this assembly. If your child is receiving an award, you will be contacted by the school and notified that they will be receiving an award.
Students will be released at 1:05 on both Thursday, May 28, and Friday, May 29.
Our last day of school will be Friday, May 29. We will eat lunch at school and be released at 1:05 that day. We have started the tradition of “Clapping Out” our students who are moving on to middle school. If you are the parent of a 5th or 6th grader, you are welcome to attend that event at 12:50 PM on May 29.
We will also be continuing our tradition of “Rock the Halls,” where we invite the Graduating Seniors who attended Mountainside for elementary school to come walk the halls of their elementary one more time. Seniors will start outside the West hallway (younger grade hallway) and work their way through the school to end at the East hallway (older grade hallway). This will be on Tuesday, May 26 at 3:15 PM. Family members of these graduating seniors are welcome to attend.
Our Kindergarten team will be scheduling testing for our incoming kindergarteners during the summer for August. If your kindergartener isn’t registered before the office closes for the summer, they will miss the chance to get scheduled and won’t be placed in a class. If you have an incoming kindergartener and still haven’t registered them, PLEASE register them by June 10th at the very latest so we can schedule their kindergarten testing.
Class lists for next year will be sent out through PowerSchool Wednesday, August 5th. Kindergarten class lists will be sent out Friday, August 7th.
Our back-to-school night will be Thursday, August 20 from 6:00-7:00 PM.
School starts for 1st – 6th graders on Tuesday, August 25. Kindergarten’s first day will be Tuesday, September 1.
Please let the office know if you will be moving out of our school boundaries or if you have changed your address.
This is my 6th year as principal of Mountainside. Which means the 5th and 6th graders leaving this year were kindergarteners and 1st graders when I started. I have loved watching these kids grow up into remarkable young men and women during their years at Mountainside. I want to say a heartfelt thank you for making this school year such a success. The support of this incredible community, PTA, and staff has created a culture where our students feel valued and thrive. As always, thank you for the privilege of serving your children.
Gratefully,
Cam Amott
Principal
Library End of Year Information:
As the end of the year draws to a close don't forget about your library books! All library books are due May 8th. If you have damaged a book, you can pay $15 per book to the office. If you have lost a book, please pay $15 per book. When we have to replace lost or damaged books, it hinders purchasing new series and award winning books for our library. Thanks for your support.
Any questions please reach out to karen.lefevre@ccsdut.org or stop by the library on Wednesdays or Fridays to chat. It's been a great year!
Student Lunches:
Student lunch accounts must be current at years end... If your student has a negative lunch balance, please make a payment ASAP and make sure that their balance remains positive for the rest of the school year. The money you deposit stays with your student for as long as they are with Cache County School District
New Lunch Payment System!!!:
Dear CCSD Families,
The CCSD Child Nutrition Department will be updating its parent portal for online payments and free and reduced lunch applications on May 1st, 2026, to PaySchools Central.
Steps to Take:
- Disable Auto-Pay: Log into your EZSchoolPay account before April 29th to stop any recurring payments.
- Check the Webpage: Visit the CCSD Child Nutrition webpage on or after May 1st for the link to the new portal.
- Create a New Account: You will need to set up a fresh profile in the new system to handle meal payments and future applications.
- Application Status:
- Current School Year: If you already have an application on file for the 2025-26 year, you're all set.
- Next School Year: Mark your calendar for August 1st to renew your application for the 2026-27 school year.
Note: Any balance currently in your student's account should roll over to the new system. Please make sure your child(ren) have positive balances before the end of the school year.
Lost & Found is overfull!!:
Our Lost and Found bins are currently overflowing with jackets, water bottles, and more. If your child is missing an item, please stop by to take a look! All remaining items will be packed up and donated to those in need after school on Friday, May 29th
