Other Concerns/Open Forum
Joe Cottrell asked the parents about ideas they might have to help with students who are chronically absent at the school. Some of the challenges mentioned were the high level of illness that seems prevalent this year, the challenge of catching a student back up who has been gone multiple days, and that much of the learning happening at school can't be sent home. Blake Tubbs mentioned that helping parents see the long term effects of high absences in elementary and how that impacts students in high school could be helpful. Joe Cottrell shared that the district had put together a flier that included research talking about the long-term impact of chronic absenteeism.
Cam Amott shared that an audit had recently been done on schools' Rules of Order and Procedure and that Mountainside would take our current rules of order and insert them in the template that the state shared with schools. Everyone present was in favor of this plan.
